Pressure Controls, Inc. Under New Ownership

WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (January 27, 2021):  RIDE, Inc., a West Greenwich-based design manufacturer of power transmission components, sound and shock absorption and fluid film bearing technology for industries worldwide, has acquired Belleville, New Jersey-based Pressure Controls, Inc. (PCI), a privately owned manufacturer of custom designed control systems and pressure, vacuum and flow switches for a variety of industries since 1966.

The announcement was made by RIDE, Inc. President/CEO Russell Ide. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition included PCI’s manufacturing equipment and U.S. and international customer base.

Earlier this year, the Belleville, N.J. warehouse at 406 Cortlandt Street was closed and all operations were relocated to RIDE’s modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Pressure Controls, Inc. was spun off as its own entity under RIDE’s existing leadership team of operations, engineering, sales, and customer service staff.

In the months leading up to the sale, RIDE’s engineering team traveled to PCI in New Jersey to spend time working with the company’s previous owners and manufacturing team to learn about their products and customers. “As a specialist in engineered components, we were looking to expand our capabilities in mechanical components that could be used in many of our current markets.” states Mr. Ide. “PCI could readily be merged into our existing offerings and facilities utilizing our strong technical staff and computer capabilities. What also appealed to us was that our team could not only engineer solutions easily, but there was room to improve upon the designs. This growth opportunity was a major contributing factor in the ultimate decision to purchase the company.”

Plans include research and development of new products; expanding the manufacturing footprint with additional equipment; hiring sales representatives, assembly technicians and machinists; and rolling out new branding and marketing initiatives. Ide also plans to take PCI from its current ISO9001:2015 compliant status to becoming certified in 2022. “Our main focus will be on customer service, engineered solutions, warranty offerings, as well as timely delivery,” he adds. “It’s important to build trust with and assist customers and vendors responsively during this transition and let them know that we are here to serve them.”
