ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SWITCHES
A Unique Collection of Specialized Switches
Absolute pressure switches from Pressure Controls, Inc. are used in situations where changes in atmospheric pressure can affect the accuracy of the switch. By isolating the sensing element from exterior conditions, absolute pressure switches use zero PSIA as their reference point and provide a more accurate representation of any changes in pressure. Because of this, these switches can be completely submerged without affecting performance.
Absolute pressure switches have excelled in these applications: Altitude Switches, SF6 Monitoring Switches and Custom / Harsh Environment Applications. Scroll down to learn more about each application and feel free to contact us directly with any questions that you may have. Find out why companies around the world rely on PCI for accurate and durable absolute pressure switches!
Altitude Switches
These switches are designed to open or close a circuit at a specific altitude.
CRITICAL PARTS OUR CUSTOMERS RELY ON EVERY DAY
Controlling functions automatically in the Aerospace Industry
We've worked closely with partners in the aerospace industry, both in commercial and defense aviation applications. These switches have been deployed to activate or deactivate a circuit when the aircraft reaches the designed altitude.
Adding safety to Military & Defense Applications
We've also worked with the defense industry to develop altitude switches that act as safety interlocks and can monitor external as well as internal conditions aboard aircraft and projectiles.
ALTITUDE SWITCHES DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR NEEDS
The AV-1 and SE-5 altitude switches have been in PCI's catalog for over 50 years and have become industry standards, but if your application requires a different set of specifications, please feel free to contact our team here. We would be happy to discuss your project and design the perfect switch for you.

SF-6 Monitoring Switches
GAS INSULATED SWITCHGEAR
Our Absolute Pressure Switches have been used to monitor sulfur hexafluoride, an extremely stable insulating gas along with other inert gasses and vacuum. The switches in these applications are designed to open or close when the pressure of the gas is too low. It can also be used in combination with a temperature switch to monitor if the density is too low.
Reliable Performance for the Utilities Industry
These switches are widely used in preventing arcing in switchgears for utilities and other electrical applications. If the amount of inert gas falls below a certain level it will no longer prevent arcing and can be hazardous. The switches are used for an early alert to show that the gas has dropped too low and the system needs maintenance.
